Conservative Synagogue of Fifth Avenue

In the CSFA Community

Like all communities, CSFA is made up of individuals, each with his or her own special attributes. We pride ourselves on the number of our members who actively participate in the functioning of our shul, working tirelessly to make sure that our building is kept in good repair; that bulletins and event flyers are produced regularly and on time; that bills are paid; that food is provided and cleanup is performed whenever required; that the garden is planted, weeded and watered; that activities and classes are scheduled and advertised—the list goes on and on, and our members do it all, with the energetic help of our office administrator, Leslie Gibel. In this space we want to recognize and show appreciation for all of this effort. We also want to help our members celebrate significant milestones in their lives and show our support when needed. See below also for congregational Birthday and Anniversary greetings, and a listing of Yahrzeits for the current month. Please email the Web Coordinator if you have a message or other information that should appear here.

MESSAGES TO THE CONGREGATION

  • We extend heartfelt condolences to Ruth Kohler on the passing of her sister, Helen Mazur, on May 21. May Ruth and the members of her family be comforted among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.
  • Mazal Tov to David and Naomi Schoenkin on the birth of a daughter, Sarah Levin, born Saturday, June 12. Mazel tov to the proud parents and to the members of their family. May they have much naches from their beautiful little girl.
  • Yascher Koach and Todah Rabbah to everyone who helped make this year's 50th Anniversary Gala and Journal a big success! Ed Kerson, Harold Anfang and Cantor Moses arranged the program, Abie Sussman created a beautiful Journal, and of course people pitched in by placing ads and soliciting them from local businesses. Beverly Altschuler and Cynthia Berman arranged the sanctuary, supervised the caterers and ordered flowers; and Ed Kerson produced the invitations to the event. Thanks to everyone for a fun and successful day!
  • Congratulations and good luck to Melissa Green and Les Taub on the launch of their business venture, Play Fair Sports, Inc. Their goal is to provide ethics and sportsmanship training for young athletes and their parents, through schools, Little Leagues, town recreation centers, etc. Please visit their website at www.playfairsports.com for more information, and pass the word to anyone you think might be interested.
  • Please also visit Melissa Green's new site,
www.greenwareceramics.com, which features an extensive selection of Judaica and other beautiful ceramic works. We wish Melissa and Les all the best in both new enterprises!
