Cantor Seth K. Adelson has served Conservative Synagogue of Fifth Avenue since the fall of 2003. Cantor Adelson received his investiture from the H.L. Miller Cantorial School of the Jewish Theological Seminary of America (JTS) with a Master of Sacred Music and Diploma of Hazzan in May, 2004, and at the same time received a Master of Arts in Bible and Ancient Semitic Languages from the Graduate School of JTS. Not satisfied with only three diplomas from JTS, he is now enrolled in the Rabbinical School, and expects to be ordained in May, 2008. Trained and formerly employed as a chemical engineer, Cantor Adelson spends his summers working at Camp Ramah in New England, where he has directed programs in prayer and nature education as well as planned hiking and camping trips for Jewish youth.
